That’s right FRIENDZ, we are hosting an event! It’s our way to get personal with our audience and share some of the things that we love. There will be lots of Fun, Art, Yoga, and Food. And a little dancing. And Kim will probably sing. You know, just like we are IRL!

We hope you can join us in Batesville on April 27 from 9-3. The price is $75 and includes all of the food, yoga, art supplies, and a little swag. The space is wonderful and we are so excited to share everything with you.

This is your chance to spend the day with us in real life! We will definitely try to class up our act and put on some makeup (and maybe fix our hair). But you don’t have to. You do you!

Whether you are an experienced yogi or new to the practice, props can help you enhance your experience. I’ve created a list of my favorite props through our Amazon affiliate links. Just click on the links below to purchase.

Blankets

Blankets are one of my favorite props. You can use them to lift your hips in seated poses, pad your knees in lunges, support your back in a restorative backbend, or as a neck roll in relaxation poses. Get creative with your colors, but remember that I use blue blankets in class (we don’t want to get them mixed up).

Straps

A strap is a handy prop to give you some extra room in a pose. If you can’t quit reach your foot, or just need a little extra room to make the grip, straps are very helpful. There are so many choices of straps. The one listed below is a basic variety. Whatever color and style you choice, I would recommend that you go for a 10 ft length.

Blocks

When you can’t quite reach the floor, bring the floor up to you! A block can be used to support you as you work toward the final pose. Foam blocks are good, but my favorites are cork. They are a little more expensive, but they hold up forever. Go for a 4x6 size.

Bolsters

Bolsters are the best of all the props. They are great to sit on for meditation and kneeling poses. Best of all, bolsters are necessary for the complete restorative yoga experience. There are several types and sizes of bolsters.

Hugger Muggers are my favorite. They are the perfect size and density for everything.

Hello Friendz with a Z! Kim here. As a recovering blogger for over 10 years off and on (mostly off the past few years), I have been wanting to start back with some writing and although I have a personal blog (that mostly “off” place for blogging), I thought this latest adventure would be a good place to dip my toes back into some writing for fun.

After three years of grad school and having to write, it is nice to write for fun again!

I thought the holidays would be a good place to start. I love me a good list and because part of our focus for the podcast is self care, I thought I would provide some self care tips to get through the stress of Thanksgiving. <—-(insert any other stressful holiday here)

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and reflect on all your blessings, right? But how many of us women (typically) are so stressed out preparing the Instagram worthy meal that we forget to take our own time to relax and reflect. Here are a few things you can do to make sure you take care of you on Thanksgiving or other holiday.

Prior to the day

  • Make a list or timeline for the cooking and meal (this one is KEY people!)
  • Get all dish ware/servers washed out and washed
  • Set the table
  • Assign tasks to anyone willing and able to help
  • Recipes and instructions ready
  • Games or other activities planned and out for guests
  • Clothes picked out and laid out

All of that prep should make things less stressful for you for the day so you can take some time for yourself. How awesome will that be???

Now here are some tips for the day to take care of YOU

  • Meditate and/or pray
  • Yoga or stretch
  • Bubble bath or nice long shower
  • A nice at home mani/pedi
  • Watch a movie
  • Watch football, or Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, or Dog show (you get the idea!)
  • Enjoy a cup or tea or coffee and your favorite podcast (I know a good one for you!) ;)
  • Take a walk or run
  • Indulge in a nap! MY PERSONAL FAVORITE Y’ALL!!
  • Journal your thoughts about Thanksgiving, your favorite memories, your blessings, or just make a list of what you are most thankful for.
  • Take some candid photos throughout the day. They don’t have to be perfect. Just document who is there and the food. You will be happy to have those memories later!
  • Read a book
